[Temporary Fix] XML text issues

Post by ferghus »

As many of you may have noticed, the latest patch turned out to have a glitch where talent titles, as well as some other text strings, are displayed as XML code. Nexon is aware of this bug (as well as the untranslated text issues, which are not related to this) and will likely fix them next week. Until then, if the XML error is driving you nuts, you can temporarily fix it on your own by replacing the language.pack file in the Mabinogi\package\ directory and launching Client.exe directly to prevent the Mabinogi launcher/patcher from replacing language.pack with a version causes trouble.

Instructions
1) Download the working language.pack from http://imperium.mabidata.net/Home/file- ... guage.pack (Or get 126_language.p_ from the official patch server and extract it yourself.)
2) Copy this file to the package folder where your Mabinogi client is installed, overwriting the problematic language.pack. (For example, at C:\Nexon\Mabinogi\package)
3) Create a shortcut on your desktop and point it to where Client.exe is located on your computer, with the following format:
C:\Nexon\Mabinogi\Client.exe code:1622 ver:126 logip:8.31.99.11 logport:11000 chatip:8.31.99.12 chatport:8002 setting:"file://data/features.xml=Regular, USA"
The installation location will likely be different on your computer.

Note
If you launch Mabinogi the normal way after doing this, the patcher will replace the good language.pack with the bad one again. You'll have to re-download it as instructed above and launch Client.exe directly.

Warning
Launching Mabinogi directly via Client.exe instead of through the website or through Mabinogi.exe is something that should be done with care, as it bypasses the launcher/patcher. This means that you will not get automatically notified of an update/bugfix patch if Nexon releases it when you start the game using this method! As such, it should only be used for troubleshooting errors in the short term (like here) or if you really know what you're doing--I strongly suggest that you don't use this method once the new patch is available.

Have fun with those talent titles~
