Staff-to-Scythe?

I started an Evie last weekend, and, I had the intention of making her a Scythe Evie. However, not only did I NOT start with a Scythe, but I can't even Melee with her staff. So, I looked on some guides, and none of them correctly answered my question. All I've gathered is that you need a skill called Scythe Masterey. Too bad that the Forge doesn't sell it. Or Ceara.
