Nexon held Mabinogi's 9th Anniversary Offline Event in Japan, where they've announced a schedule of content updates/events. One point stood out: They've unveiled the Ninja talent!

The Ninja talent uses equips Shuriken weapons:

The Shuriken is a combined melee / ranged 2-hand weapon.
The Shuriken can be thrown as a normal attack.
The Shuriken is compatible with regular Melee skills. (eg. smash, counter, windmill)

I'm still hoping that the elves will have most advantage with this skillset (stats wise).

So I'm crossing my finger for Ninja skills to be based off Int/Dex.

Awesome Informative Trailer...

Mastery will increase attack range.
Zan will increase attack range.
Yamiuchi is an attack deal dmg with increased speed btw Yuri.
Sakura will take 15sec to full charge.
Oboro reduce 20 Def.
Binding up to 6 target for 11 sec.
Etc...

As much as I agree with the notion that Mabinogi has become a fairly mediocre game, I thought it'd be best to split that discussion into its own, creatively named thread here: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1922 o/

hmmm, I'm curious on how well the synergy of this + gunner will work out:
Use gunner for dps, Rasenzen to knockback / keep at a distance, as well as provide close range combat and debuffs.
Also I'm hoping the ninja talent will be dependant on max damage and not based on stats such as hp / mana / stamina.
Main reason being that I don't want to switch out of my gear now that I'm nearly done with it xD.

Sorry for going off topic...

But according to data-miners for JP Mabi, the new Ninja enchants gives Str and/or Will.

The level-up bonus for selecting Ninja talent will give you Str and Will... so...

It would be safe to say that it might will be based off Str/Will.

Which means... lol DevCat favored giants again by giving them more talents they already have most advantage with (when they already have four talents).

Giants need talents like these to expand their range options so I'm fine with that, also that str + will combination is great in many ways for giants and humans, the int / dex wouldn't have made sense for ninja anyways. We'll probably get int / dex on some melee / range hybrid talent somewhere in the future.

I think Ninja talent should be based off Dex/Will and I think Dex/Int made even more sense than Str/Will does.

Giants already got Gunslinger, which is considered a ranged and they're already best with that talent (marginally) too (in term of Str and Int combined). They also have Warrior, Knight (Lancer), and Fighter. They already have four talents they're best with, and they don't need a fifth one.

Humans only get Puppetry as their best talent while everything else is in middle. Humans get both lances and bows, so that balances out the humans.

What do elves get? Only speed, hide, and magnum shot spam (shorter cooldown). Most people consider their speed and hide useless already. They don't really have any best talents as they aim slower with ranged than humans can. Humans get Arrow Revolver, which is much better compared to both Mirage Missile and Final Shot combined. Not to mention, elves only get 50 extra dex when they capped it, which isn't much of a difference. People try to say that they're best with magic, but that is not true because all elves get (when capping the int from Skills and Talent) is basically only 15 extra int. Not to mention... elves is worse with many other talents such as warrior (due to 150-ish str that they misses out on) and fighter (their chain mastery only give them 20% multiplier at r1, and they misses out on like 50 will).

Ninjas had the great potential to give the elves their spotlight, but nope, DevCat like to f**k us over and over again.
