So... what is it?
Well, it is basically special items you can pick up from the shadow missions for Rath Castle.
What you will notice are sparkling marks on the ground. You will need to equip a "Monocle" to be able to actually see the book and pick it up. The item can be bought from the NPC Arzhela or obtain though the mainstream quest (150k in price).
There are 6 types of the tomes and can be found in different level of difficulty missions:
Basic---
Shining Old Book 1x1 = 1 page
Mysterious Old Book 2 x 2 = 4 pages
Silent Old Book 2 x 3 = 6 pages
Intermediate---
Old Mediation 3 x 3 = 9 pages
Advanced---
Despair Old Book 4 x 3 = 12 pages
Hard---
Prophetic Old Book 4 x 4 = 16 pages
Like listed, each page is a 1x1 piece, that forms a picture like a puzzle. The only exception is the Shining Old Book, which is only one page and can be stacked.
You can turning the pages you found to Arzhela for rewards for experience and gold like restoring fossils (Only this doesn't give explore exp but base exp instead).
Obviously the completed tome will give higher reward than the single pages, one thing to note is that you cannot trade completed tomes to other people, but you can trade the page fragments.

In addition, Completed Prophetic Old Book and Despair Old book have chance to receive the reward Cute Princess Dress (Like Lava Cat Robe from Fossil).
