Okay, Lances, opinions are kind divided into OMG is awesome and Eww it looks ugly. Personally I think they are interesting weapon and definitely a asset to Giant Players at the same time somewhat useful for humans. O and yea, no elves allowed XD.

Lance is a very interesting because it has some of most unique property most weapons doesn't and some of the best property the other weapon has. First let's get the basics down:
  • Lance, Slow 2hits Mid-range weapon (Is still considered as Melee Weapon and not Range), attack from distance 120~220.

    Lance, is a two-hand weapon, this means humans cannot equip shields with it. Giants on the other hand can use shield with lances (Hohoho Lance + Shield of Avon). In addition, since it is a 2 hand weapons, it will receive the Smash Bonus (2handswords, you got !#@$ over again).

    Lance, have the special property called Pierce that will reduce monster's defense and protection when monster are hit with it(One Time). The Pierce property have levels, the higher level it is the more defense and protection it will reduce. The max level for Pierce is 6 (Reduce 25 def/12 pro), different lances have different level to start with. Special Lances like Knight Lance even have upgrades to increase it's Pierce Level. Other than that, you must use the new enchants introduced in G14 to increase it.

    Lance, cannot be turned into a Spirit Weapon, but they are SR upgradable!

Okay, those are the basic details on Lances.

Now let's talk about skill relating to Lances:
Lance Mastery, basically like any other mastery class, increase damage when using Lances, but in addition when it is R9+, Lance weapon becomes 3 hits Slow Weapon.

Lance Counter, basically like counter, but fore lances since u cannot use normal counter with lances. Unlike normal counter that goes on forever, Lance Counter only stands for 4 secs and have a 5 second cool down. Mainly you want to use this after a normal Lance Attack because you will be moved forward closer to the monster like Giant's Knuckles. However, most people will probably choose to windmill over Lance Counter, which is the other skill u can use after.

Lance Charge, at R1 it is 250%, and you are able to use it on the horse mounts (S2 Patch). The target enemy will receive x2 the damage modifier of the rankand while mounted you will deal additional 1.2 times damage. It does give straight line splash also. This skill is much like assault and share the same cool down time with it (Meaning you will get a cool down for both skill when u use one or the other).

Now, what's make this weapon very interesting is because that with it you can do distance smash, which is like... semi magnum like. Talk is cheap, so just watch the video of good examples of Lance uses:

Now you want to get Lances? Well, there's a total of 3 Lances type:
Physis Wooden: Sold in NPC shops.
Lion Claw: Dropped by Giant Lions.
Knight Lance: Weekly Knight Jousting Tournament 1st and 2nd place (Special 16 dura ones), Glowing Karu Dungeon End Chest.

Okay minor update:

Lance Charge will receive additional 1.2 times damage when used on mount, and the longer the distance between you and your target additional damage will be applied (reverse of water cannon effect, power of Momentum?), in the end, the effective rate is something close to 750% to target enemy, 300% to splashed enemies, something like that.

Linear windmill with ignoring of def and protect properties!

Also add critical hit to the equation.
